To figure out your event day, sleep, wake up, and quickly run through town. A lot of events are triggered just by entering buildings. Then check your diary to see if you started an event. Or just infer via the scene that happened.

Then get Leon in your party. Note that just because he's leaving that doesn't mean it's necessarily his marriage event, because there are multiple events he's involved in. But keep resetting until you do get his marriage event, then viola. Above poster is right though, if you haven't seen it yet you need to play through "A Day in Leon's Life" for the marriage event to be possible. So make sure you've seen that, figured out your event day, then just reset until you get the event you want.
