Probably biased, the author's a friend, but this is snark done right about a world I'm glad passed me by. The Dating Manifesto is full of solid, practical dating and life advice. It talks about what's wonderful about being single, while still encouraging people to esteem and plan for marriage if they believe that is meant for them.
This book tells it straight, to both guys and girls, telling them they need to get involved in a Christian community, and also addresses issues that often arise with singles. It also has practical "tips and tricks" and some of the "how-to"s of dating.

The advice in this book has without doubt helped me in the way I view and handle relationships. It's encouraging and absolutely hilarious at least to my sense of humor and something I can wholeheartedly recommend. In the spirit of full disclosure, I want to make sure I mention that I will be receiving a copy of the book for writing this review. But, I was planning to buy the book already anyway, and I liked the book so much I bought two copies with my own money to give away to friends.
And I truly do believe it deserves a 5-star rating. This one - "The Dating Manifesto" - stands out from the crowd, not only because it includes Lisa Anderson's funny wit and gifted ability to tell a story, but also because it is chalked full of practical, empathic advise about how to date with a purpose Reading Lisa's book reminded me that intentional dating doesn't have to seem "creepy" or "desperate.
She acknowledges the pitfalls and potential emotional bruises and scrapes that come with dating, but she also reminds us that it can and should be fun, especially when it's centered in Christ. Lisa's transparency throughout and the book about her own journey through the dating world was encouraging. When I finished the book, I felt like I had sat at a coffee shop all afternoon, listening to a good friend share some of her life-stories with me.
Lisa is open and raw about her desire for marriage echoing the desire of so many of us singles our there , but I loved that she concludes the book with an urgent charge to look at God's bigger picture and see the reality that He is faithful to fulfill His plans, no matter our relationship status.
Perhaps one of my favorite lines from the book both encourages singles to confidently step into the world of dating while simultaneously urges us to be fully alive and present in our current season: To start maximizing the season we're in while still remaining hopeful for what's to come. The Online Dating Manifesto
This should be required reading for anyone signing up for an online dating service. Less a list of dos and don'ts and more a firm, merciless explanation of how your courting comes across to the fairer sex, Charlye Ms. McMillan if you're nasty oh gross, you're nasty, keep it to yourself has mustered her wit and smarts to write an actual bullet-pointed manifesto with examples, with names hopefully changed to protect the foul.
Just be careful you don't cut yourself on the snark. As someone who has never tried online dating before nor have I ever had a hard time just being a honest, outgoing, hard working, nice guy, I do however have a bunch of friends with horror stories about online dating, and some that have worked great! It really brought some of those stories to life for me and helped me understand the whole process a lot better. It is a ripping good time that is full of laughs. So many unique situations that are not so unique.
