Het vervolg toonde duidelijk aan dat het om een sirieuze zaak ging maar het was gewoon te slap, te makkelijk en te simpel. Nergens voelde je de kou, pijn of de angst van de klimmers.
De afgronden en bergwanden zien er erg nep uit en ook de ruimte waar Annie en Elliot terecht waren gekomen is nogal slecht in beeld gebracht. De soundtrack is typisch Amerikaans en heeft op deze overdreve manier maar weinig toegevoegde waarde. Ik heb deze op blu-ray gekocht omdat ik 'm vroeger steengoed vond, maar ik moet mijn mening herzien. Het verhaal en de personages zijn helemaal niet zo boeiend, het enige dat deze film overeind houdt is de indrukwekkende omgeving waarin ie opgenomen is en een paar mooie actiescenes. Vertical Limit is een film die aan de ene kant een hoop spektakel wil bieden en aan de andere kant een serieus verhaal.

Dat gaat toch enigszins mis. Vooral het serieuze gedeelte van de film gaat serieus de mist in, omdat het acteerwerk behoorlijk ondermaats is. Er is in feite geen enkele acteur of actrice die hier overtuigt.

De karakters zijn en blijven oppervlakkig en diepgang is er niets of nauwelijks te bespeuren. Verder valt het spektakel ook behoorlijk tegen. Het duurt wel drie kwartier voordat er eindelijk eens een expeditie gaat klimmen. Vervolgens ontwikkeld zich een voorspelbaar verloop, waarbij het al vrij snel duidelijk is, wie de trip wel en wie de trip niet zal overleven. De actie in de film is op zich nog best goed, al is de geloofwaardigheid op sommige momenten wel ver te zoeken.
Gelukkig heeft de fim af en toe ook nog mooie plaatjes van de beklimming, waardoor de film niet helemaal ondersneeuwt, maar goed is het allemaal niet.
In de bios gezien een een aantal keer op tv. Soms boeiend en aardig spannend. Soms knap irritant en voorspelbaar. Je aandacht zakt dan helemaal weg. Matige rollen voor de acteurs, zo stereotype. Izabella is de enige die wel lekker scoort. Voor de rest, te hoog gegrepen!
