Welcome to Reddit,

There is a plethora of clubs and organizations a student can join. Students majoring in Liberal Arts as the school emphasizes engineering, business and veterinary programs. Also, students who would prefer an urban setting as the city population is mostly made up of students. Finally, students who would prefer a small school with under 40, students enrolled and schools that do not invest vast resources on athletic programs.

A large majority of the student population is conservative and the city reflects these values. People that shouldn't attend this school are people that are not willing to get involved.

Getting involved is not difficult, however, because there are people of all different sorts here. Any interest or hobby you may have, there is probably an organization for that. Also if you are a Longhorns fan or partial to the color burnt orange then you also shouldn't come here.

MODERATORS

A coy, independent person should not attend this university. Traditions and camraderie are defining elements of this institution, and in order for these to exist the student body needs to remain active, which it undoubtedly is. I believe that if you're the kind of person who wants to get through college without being very involved with campus-life, then this probably is not the place for you.

We want you to have the best college experience, so Plus-U moved in with Unigo. TAMU is the second largest university in Texas, and the 15th largest public university in the nation. Even though a ton of people here are conservative, there are tons of people who are not. You will undoubtedly meet people from other states, other nations, and other beliefs.

If you're from a city inside the beltways, it will be extremely conservative and a culture shock for you. Most of the students are surburbanites or rural dwellers and are used to it. It is getting more cosmopolitan all the time, but the bottom line is that there a bunch of close minded bigoted people in a much higher concentration than most universities. The conservative is there, but it's becoming more liberal.

I'm pretty liberal there myself and did not have a bad time with that aspect. Northgate and Grand Station are the best things to do there. So I spent a decent amount of time heading to Houston for concerts on the weekends when I wanted to get out. The mall there is pretty decent, and you'll be able to find most anything you like around town. It's not like a huge city when it comes to variety in stores but it's nothing that causes an issue.

Current student, class of here. As for cstat, there's plenty to do if you're looking, but the biggest attraction is the campus itself. You have the MSC, which is basically a massive building used by the students as a place to hang out. There are some really nice parks around campus, and academic plaza always has something interesting going on, from slacklines, to frisbee, to the occasional marriage proposal. Personally, I spend a lot of time in the Rec rock climbing, but everyone has their own thing.

There are two or three big places to go if you're wanting to go shopping, although I can't say I get to very often on the account of being a broke college kid. We have a mall just like everyone else, nothing special about that.

DELTA PROBATE, SUNDAY BRUNCH DATE & WHY KYRA'S NOT GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!!

There's this little shopping district developing at the corner of campus, there's not much there yet but it should be more fleshed out by the time you get here. The real shopping is in Bryan though. Bryan is the town right next to cstat less than a 5 minute drive and it has a ton of really cool stuff to do. Live music, thrifty stores, great food, basically anything you want.

It's an awesome date spot too, plenty to see and do. I hope that kinda answers your questions, TLDR; College Station is great and you should definitely at least consider school here. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions!
